Zeno Crowned Co-Emperor

An Isaurian rises to share Rome's throne

Zeno, born in the rugged province of Isauria in modern-day Turkey, was crowned co-emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire. His path to power was anything but smooth, marked by palace coups and religious controversies. Yet Zeno proved remarkably resilient, surviving a usurpation and returning to rule for fifteen years. He presided over the fall of the Western Roman Empire while stabilizing the East, a feat of political survival against extraordinary odds.

Korean War: The two-day Geochang massacre begins as a battalion of the 11th Division of the South Korean Army kills.

The Korean War was an armed conflict on the Korean peninsula between North Korea and South Korea and their allies. North Korea was supported by China and the Soviet Union, while South Korea was supported by the United Nations Command (UNC) led by the United States. The war, which ended in stalemate, was the first great clash of arms of the Cold War and was one of, if not its deadliest proxy war.
