Theodosius the Great Born

The last emperor of a united Rome arrives

In the province of Hispania, Theodosius was born into a world where the Roman Empire still stretched from Britain to Egypt. He would become the last emperor to rule both the Eastern and Western halves as a single dominion. His establishment of Nicene Christianity as the state religion and his military victories in two civil wars reshaped the spiritual and political landscape of the late Roman world, making him one of history's most consequential rulers.
