The Boxer Rebellion Rages

Eight nations storm a besieged Chinese city

The armies of the Eight-Nation Alliance, a multinational force of some 45,000 troops from Germany, Japan, Russia, Britain, France, the United States, Italy, and Austria-Hungary, captured Tientsin during the bloody Boxer Rebellion. The fall of the strategic port city marked a decisive moment in the campaign to relieve foreign legations besieged in Beijing by anti-foreign Boxer militants.
