Nero Named Youth Leader

A future tyrant receives his first honor

The boy, adopted by Emperor Claudius, showed no signs yet of the madness and cruelty that would later define his reign. This early accolade set Nero on the path to the throne, where he would become one of history's most infamous rulers, remembered for persecution, excess, and Rome in flames.
