Constantine Enters Rome

A triumphant march over a tyrant's corpse

Two days after his legendary vision, Constantine the Great entered Rome in a grand adventus following his decisive victory at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge. The crowds erupted in jubilation as the body of his rival Maxentius was fished from the Tiber and beheaded. The new master of Rome would transform the empire, legalizing Christianity and founding Constantinople.
