Vandal Persecution Ends

A brief respite for the faithful in North Africa

The Arian Vandal Kingdom in North Africa ceased its persecution of Nicene Christians, ending a brutal campaign against those who adhered to the mainstream Christian faith. The reprieve came after decades of religious suppression under Vandal rule, during which Nicene clergy were exiled and churches confiscated. The peace, however fragile, allowed the Christian community to breathe again.
