A warlord murders his puppet sovereign

The ruthless warlord Zhu Quanzhong killed Emperor Zhaozong of the Tang dynasty after seizing the imperial government. The assassination of the penultimate Tang emperor was the near-final act in the dissolution of one of China's greatest dynasties. Zhu would establish the Later Liang dynasty, plunging China into the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period.
